(July 2, 2021) — The fast growth in MLConnect subscribers has caused users to experience slower than normal connection speeds. The good news is that the issues have been identified, and our team is working on a short-term solution that will result in speeds returning to more normal levels by tonight. The great news is that a long-term solution is also in the works with equipment on order that will prevent the need for additional capacity upgrades for the foreseeable future.
“We apologize to our member-subscribers for these issues and are grateful for the opportunity to serve so many in our area so quickly,” says MLEC President and CEO Keith Carnahan. “Growing pains are no fun, and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we work as quickly as possible to deliver the level of service, speed and reliability we are committed to supplying our communities.”
MLConnect began construction in late 2018 with a goal of completing all main line construction for all five counties in four years. To date, more than 2000 miles of fiber (main line and individual service drops) have been constructed across the MLEC territory.
